Primary External Mark

The stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark is the university’s primary external brand mark. It is designed to present 91³Ô¹ÏÍø clearly, consistently and confidently to audiences beyond our campus and to strengthen recognition of 91³Ô¹ÏÍø as a national university. You will see it most often in marketing, communications, advertising and outward-facing materials.
The stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark does not replace Pegasus. Pegasus remains an enduring academic and institutional symbol of 91³Ô¹ÏÍø, embedded in our university seal, campus environment, ceremonies and traditions.
The stacked mark is also used on behalf of 91³Ô¹ÏÍø by 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Athletics, but there is an important distinction. The university’s primary external mark uses the Bold Gold of the Pegasus and is separate from the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Athletics identity. The two marks are not interchangeable.
do
- Keep proper clear space around the logo
- Use only the approved 91³Ô¹ÏÍø brand colors
- Scale proportionally from the vector source
- Maintain the outermost white border
DON’T
- Lock up the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark with any text, or another entity’s name or logo.
- Recolor, reoutline, or add gradients, shadows or effects to the logo
- Stretch, condense, rotate or rebuild the logo
- Place the logo over busy photography or non-91³Ô¹ÏÍø brand colors
- Swap in the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Athletics logo (because it is not Bold Gold)
Important NoteS
- You must always maintain the outermost white border of the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark.
- Never lock up the logo with any text, or another entity’s name or logo. The stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark may never be used in a way that could be interpreted as a partnership, co-branding or similar relationship without explicit written permission from the Office of the President and/or University Brand and Marketing.
Logo Clear Space Rules
For the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark, leave appropriate clear space around the mark between other design elements.
The minimum clear space around the mark must equal two-thirds the height of the “C, including its outermost white border. Leave at least that much space around the entire perimeter of the mark.
Logo files downloaded from University Brand and Marketing’s official asset library are already set up with the appropriate amount of clear space.
Also note:
- Type, graphic elements and other logos must not intrude into the clear space
- Cut lines and folds must not intrude into the clear space

Logo Background Rules
The stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark should only be placed on black, white or neutral color backgrounds, including photos that have those background colors.
How To Request Logo Files
91³Ô¹ÏÍø logos are available by request for 91³Ô¹ÏÍø faculty, staff or qualified vendors. Use of the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark requires design approval from University Brand and Marketing. Contact us for logo files and design approval.
Alternative Logos
When the Bold Gold stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark does not work with your layout, background or color limitations, you may use one of these approved alternatives.

Keep in Mind
Always prioritize using the Bold Gold stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark unless it absolutely does not work in your creative.

University Signature
The words “91³Ô¹ÏÍøâ€ should appear in external communications and marketing pieces in markets where audiences may not be familiar with the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø brand.
For consistency, we have this university signature as a graphic element that should never be altered. Do not pair the university signature with, or lock it up to, the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark in any way.

Unit Identity Lockups (UILs)

A UIL distinguishes a specific unit of the university. It can be used in place of the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark when the context of the communication is specific to that unit. A UIL cannot be used in combination with the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark or with any other UIL.
As of Fall 2026, a UIL style transition is in progress. In collaboration with University Brand and Marketing, units will finalize a list of necessary UILs. Existing UILs remain valid for immediate needs.ÌýÌý
THINK YOU MAY NEED A UIL?
Request a UIL through University Brand and Marketing.
Do not attempt to create a UIL on your own — a “homemadeâ€ lockup weakens both the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark and your unit’s identity.
University Seal

The university seal carries 91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s formal academic and institutional authority. At its center, Pegasus connects the university to its founding, academic traditions and enduring “Reach for the Starsâ€ spirit. The seal is used for ceremonial and official purposes, including diplomas, communications from the president, legal documents and appropriate formal signage.
Reserved Use
Never use the university seal in marketing, merchandise or day-to-day communications. If you think you have a case to use the seal, you must request permission through the Office of the President.
The Role of Pegasus

Pegasus remains one of 91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s most important and enduring symbols. Introduced with the university seal in 1968, Pegasus connects generations of Knights to 91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s academic heritage, our “Reach for the Starsâ€ tradition and the university’s history.
Pegasus remains at the heart of the university seal and will continue to have a prominent presence throughout the campus environment, as well as in academic, ceremonial and traditional uses. It is part of the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø experience students encounter from the time they arrive through commencement and beyond.
The Pegasus tab is one specific graphic expression of that symbol. Its use will be intentionally focused, primarily for appropriate campus applications and moments rooted in 91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s academic tradition, ceremony and history. For external marketing and communications, the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark will generally lead our visual identity.
Use the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark on new external marketing and communications. Existing applicable materials may transition through their natural replacement cycle; there is no need to replace them early. The transition does not apply to appropriate uses of Pegasus in the university seal, campus environment, academic traditions or ceremonial applications.
The target date for applicable external marketing and communications materials to transition to the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark is December 31, 2028. This transition does not apply to approved uses of Pegasus associated with the university seal, campus environment, academic traditions or ceremonial purposes.
Athletics Logos

91³Ô¹ÏÍø Athletics is the primary university user of these logos and any official variations, only to be used for 91³Ô¹ÏÍø sports marketing or teams. An exception is the SpaceU logo, which University Brand and Marketing may use in official 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Space Week assets that colleges, departments and units may have access to for official use during that initiative.
These logos are not interchangeable with the stacked 91³Ô¹ÏÍø mark.
