• The BSN graduate will be able to:
  1. Provide effective, efficient, and safe client-centered care using concepts from liberal arts and nursing specific education.

For individuals who are not Registered Nurses. The College of Nursing has a demanding curriculum. The classes are work intensive and courses include clinical practice in a variety of settings. Due to this, it is strongly recommended that students be at least one-year post-high school prior to applying to the basic nursing program. Students with concerns or questions should contact the College of Nursing Undergraduate Student Services Office for an appointment with an academic advisor.

The program is approved by the Florida State Board of Nursing. The Nursing (B.S.N.) program will meet the educational eligibility criteria for the National Council for Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) for obtaining a license to practice as a registered nurse in Florida. Out-of-state instructional limitations apply to this degree program. Residency & Licensure Requirements: All students must be physically located within the state of Florida for the duration of their program at the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø College of Nursing. Students may not be employed in another state that requires temporary or permanent relocation. Students who relocate to another state, regardless of legal state of residence or licensure, will be unable to continue their program at the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø College of Nursing.

Admissions

• Two years of one foreign language in high school, or one year of one foreign language in college (or equivalent proficiency exam) prior to graduation.

Additional Requirements

• Students pursuing a BS degree must meet the University foreign language admission requirements before admission.
• Mandatory Drug Screening and background checks are required prior to admission and "on demand" for continuation in the program.

Students must:

• Complete all courses in major with at least a "C" (2.0) or "S" grade when appropriate.
• Maintain a 91³Ô¹ÏÍø GPA of 2.5 or above.
• Maintain a College of Nursing GPA of 2.5 or above.
• All students admitted to the BSN program will be responsible for purchasing a subscription to the LEAP*RN student information database and repository, and the DISA clinical compliance platform.

• All courses in major must be "C" (2.0) or better.
• The 91³Ô¹ÏÍø GPA must be 2.5 or above.
• The College of Nursing GPA must be 2.5 or above.

University Minimum Exit Requirements

• A 2.0 91³Ô¹ÏÍø GPA
• 42 semester hours of upper division credit completed
• 30 of the last 39 hours of course work must be completed in residency at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø.
• A maximum of 45 hours of extension, correspondence, CLEP, Credit by Exam, and Armed Forces credits permitted.
• Complete the General Education Program, the State Writing and Math Requirement, and nine hours of Summer credit.

Honors Undergraduate Thesis

Honors Option Requires:

• Open to students with a minimum 3.5 GPA in Nursing.
• Completion of a three-credit directed readings course.
• Completion of a three-credit thesis course.
• Must earn a minimum cumulative 91³Ô¹ÏÍø 3.2 GPA.
• Completion of 60 semester hours of college credit, including 12 graded upper division hours at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø.
